In 2010, the U.S. Mint launched its "America the Beautiful" series of commemorative 5-ounce silver bullion coins with matching quarter-dollars. Each coin in the eleven-year series features on its obverse the classic George Washington bust profile from the Washington quarter. Each reverse represents a selected National Park or National Site in each state, the District of Columbia and U.S. territories — Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Northern Mariana Islands. The 2011 Glacier National Park issue is the seventh in the series and promises to be very popular.
Largest U.S. silver coins ever!
The largest and heaviest silver coins ever produced by the U.S. Mint, each one contains a whopping 5 ounces of .999 fine pure silver and measures 3 inches in diameter. The weight and fineness are inscribed into the edge.
Gorgeously struck with incredibly crisp and vibrant designs, this series has been in high demand with the public so far. The first five issues quickly doubled the selling price recommended by the U.S. Mint. The new Glacier coin is still available for little more than silver melt value, however, making it an excellent way to buy bulk silver bullion with the additional premium potential of scarce collectible coins.
Benefits of 5-oz. Glacier "America the Beautiful" Silver Coins
Highest quality silver -- Each coin contains 5 full ounces of .999 fine pure silver, backed by the U.S. Mint, making it one of the heaviest and purest silver bullion coins available anywhere.
Low in price, highly collectible -- This series has been immensely popular. The first five issues quickly doubled in price but the new Glacier issue is still available at bullion prices.
Instant liquidity -- These 5-oz., .999 fine silver coins are saleable anywhere silver bullion is traded.
Better than bars and ingots -- We recommend .999 fine 5-oz. silver coins over silver bars and ingots because they’re easier to sell, store and transport, and incur no assaying costs.
