"Type 2" U.S. $20 Liberty gold coins
In Choice Extra Fine (XF), only $489 each!

Building blocks of American strength

$20 Liberty Double Eagle gold coins are among the world’s most recognized gold pieces. A workhorse coin of trade, it was used in every aspect of American economic life, from the average guy on the street to multi-million dollar international financial transactions. The classic portrait of Miss Liberty on the coin’s obverse will always serve as a powerful reminder of the emergence of the United States as a world power in the Nineteenth Century.

$20 Liberty gold coins were minted for 57 years altogether, from 1850 to 1907. During these years, three modest design modifications were introduced, resulting in three distinct types. “Type 1” was minted from 1850 to 1866, and was struck without the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” in the design. “Type 2” was minted from 1866 to 1877, and added the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” to the reverse. “Type 3” was minted from 1877 to 1907, and featured a slight alteration in the Liberty bust along with a change of the spelling of the denomination from “Twenty D.” to “Twenty Dollars.”

Few minted, fewer survive

The coins we’re offering in this special are all “Type 2” $20 Liberty coins, struck at the old Philadelphia and San Francisco Mints. Compared to the later “Type 3,” far fewer of these “Type 2” specimens were originally minted. This relative scarcity means significantly stronger collector demand and increased appreciation potential.

The vast majority of “Type 2” $20 Liberty coins were lost to the ravages of time. Of the relatively few survivors, most are heavily worn from use in circulation. As a result, specimens in slightly circulated, Extra Fine (XF) condition or better are quite scarce in today’s market. Our Extra Fine examples are extremely nice for their grade, with excellent eye appeal. Yet they are remarkably low priced relative to their intrinsic gold value, their overall scarcity, and their constant collector demand.

These beautiful, historically important coins are around 130 years old, yet they’re trading today for merely 15% more than the price of modern 1-ounce gold Eagle bullion coins, which are minted in unlimited quantities and offer no collector premium. Considering all their benefits – true scarcity, ongoing collector demand, low price, excellent eye appeal, and historical importance – these “Type 2” $20 Liberty coins are a genuine bargain that should not be passed up!

Only 53 coins available so don’t delay!
