Belgium 20 franc Leopold gold coins in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition are a highly recommended alternative to bullion coins for bulk gold buyers. They offer all the benefits of gold bullion plus true scarcity, excellent minting, and classic European beauty at close to bullion prices.
Dating from the mid-late 19th century Kingdom of Belgium, these historic European gold coins feature Leopold II, King of the Belgians from 1865 to 1909. Remembered today as the "Builder King" because of the many new buildings he commissioned in Brussels, Ostend and Antwerp, Leopold II is also known for hiring the famous explorer Henry Morton Stanley to colonize the Congo in 1876.
Greater scarcity, better value
Belgium Leopold II gold coins are exactly the same size and weight as the extremely popular France 20 franc Angels and trade for around the same price. However, Leopolds are three to four times scarcer in the market than Angels, which makes them an outstanding value. This kind of scarcity can mean higher premiums during periods of peak demand.
Unlike most forms of gold bullion, they are exempt from broker reporting requirements. In our opinion, they're better than bullion for bulk gold buyers.
• Better than bullion. They offer extra benefits like limited supply, collector demand, complete financial privacy, and extra premium potential because of scarcity. • True scarcity. BU Leopolds are three times scarcer in the market than French Angels but are trading for virtually the same price. This true scarcity can mean higher premiums during periods of peak demand. • Private, secure, and liquid. Unlike most forms of gold bullion, they are exempt from broker reporting requirements.
