Britain Gold Sovereign "Kings" in choice Brilliant Uncirculated condition are an excellent way to buy bulk gold. They offer all of the investment advantages of gold bullion plus relative scarcity, historical importance, ongoing collector demand, and financial privacy--all for little more than the cost of modern bullion coins.
Similar in size and weight to quarter-ounce U.S. Gold Eagles, Britain Sovereign "Kings" were made at seven different mints on five different continents when "the sun never set on the British Empire." They are probably the most recognized and widely-traded gold coins in the world, and were even included in U.S. aviator survival kits during World War II and Operation Desert Storm.
Due to ongoing monetary easing by the European Central Bank, Britain gold sovereigns have been difficult to source out of Europe. Fortunately, we've been able to secure several hundred. Get 'em while you can because they won't last long!
Few survivors from the Golden Age
Minted by the tens of millions from 1911 to 1935, most George V sovereigns were melted down into gold bars during the Depression, and few survivors remain in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Their true scarcity can mean higher premiums during periods of peak demand.
The classic design features King George V on the obverse and an equestrian St. George, England's patron saint, on the reverse, in his mythic defeat of the Dragon.
Unlike most forms of gold bullion, they are exempt from broker reporting requirements. In our opinion, they're better than bullion for bulk gold buyers.
• Better than bullion. All the benefits of gold bullion plus extra benefits like limited supply, collector demand, complete financial privacy, and extra premium potential because of scarcity.
• True scarcity. Their true scarcity can mean higher premiums during periods of peak demand.
• Private, liquid, secure. Unlike most forms of gold bullion, they are exempt from broker reporting requirements.
