Original Mintage 59,962. Current PCGS population 6 with 2 higher. Current NGC population is 35 with 23 grading higher. This is a completely original looking coin featuring European skin on the obverse and there is a tiny bit of dirt among the denticles at 3 oclock on the reverse. It is one of the nicer MS61 examples we have seen of Carson City Double Eagles over the years. This coin is not a near miss MS62 it is quite nice for the grade nonetheless. We have not seen nor made available the 1883 Carson City Double Eagle in mint condition for quite some time.
