1/12/2026: Gold and silver explode into 2026
Source:
Greetings!
After a blockbuster 2025—gold up 64%, silver 145%, platinum 130%, and palladium 85%—precious metals are charging into 2026 with strong momentum, despite higher COMEX margin requirements across all four metals.
Silver exploded higher in thin post-Christmas trading, surging more than $7 an ounce to a new all-time high near $84 December 26, before higher margins triggered a typical year-end pullback. That correction was short-lived, though. As of this video—recorded after the markets closed on Friday, January 9—all four metals are surging sharply higher again, with gold and silver accelerating to new all-time highs after markets reopened in Asia last night (Sunday, Jan 11) and into London and New York trading this morning (Monday, Jan 12).
As we emphasized throughout 2025, massive global physical demand is the key driver of precious metals prices. This fundamental buying continues to overwhelm short-term leveraged traders, keeping corrections shallow and trends firmly intact. The forces that pushed gold and silver to record highs last year remain fully in place.
And 2026 is already off with a bang. Escalating geopolitical turmoil—from Venezuela and Iran to rising tensions between President Trump and Fed Chair Jerome Powell—is adding fuel to an already powerful precious metals bull market that just seems unstoppable.
So please join me as I drill down on the drivers behind this remarkable start to 2026.
