12/23/2025: Gold and silver shatter records: a 2026 warning
Source:
Season's Greetings!
We wish you a safe and joyful holiday season and a happy New Year. And we thank you for the trust and confidence you've placed in American Gold Exchange over the past 27 years.
2025 will be remembered as one of the most important years for precious metals since the U.S. left the gold standard in 1971. As of December 19, gold is up 66%, silver 129%, platinum 118%, and palladium 95% year to date. These extraordinary gains reflect a historic global shift into physical precious metals.
Central banks and private investors worldwide are increasingly questioning the full faith and credit of the U.S. dollar, debt levels, and tariff-driven economic policies. With few viable alternatives to the dollar, the world has returned to gold—the oldest and most trusted form of money. Silver, platinum, and palladium have followed, and are now outperforming gold on the year.
2025 marked a major turning point in global demand. Gold led the way with two powerful tariff-related price surges. In September, extreme demand for physical silver stressed the London OTC market, which broke in October. Then, on Thanksgiving night, a primary COMEX warehouse failure helped ignite silver's 34% price surge in just 30 days—a gain many investors would consider exceptional for an entire year. Platinum has now matched that performance as well, rising 34% in the past month alone.
In this issue of AGE Gold Commentary for December 23, we break down why the world has aggressively turned to physical gold, silver, platinum, and palladium in record amounts in 2025—driving new all-time highs for gold and silver—and what this means for precious metals as we head into the New Year.
So please join me for this recap of an extraordinary 2025 and a glimpse at what's in store for 2026.
